वोलास्टोनाइट फाइबर

परिचय

वोलास्टोनाइट फाइबर एक प्राकृतिक रूप से पाया जाने वाला कैल्शियम सिलिकेट खनिज है जिसका उपयोग प्लास्टिक और अन्य औद्योगिक सामग्रियों में कार्यात्मक भराव और सुदृढ़ीकरण खनिज के रूप में किया जाता है। इसे इसकी सुई जैसी आकृति, कम तापीय विस्तार, अच्छी श्वेतता, कम नमी अवशोषण और अपेक्षाकृत उच्च कठोरता के लिए महत्व दिया जाता है, जो इसे उन यौगिकों में उपयोगी बनाती है जहां आयामी स्थिरता, सतह की गुणवत्ता और मध्यम सुदृढ़ीकरण महत्वपूर्ण हैं।

प्लास्टिक में, वोलास्टोनाइट फाइबर निष्क्रिय विस्तारकों जैसे टैल्क और मजबूत लेकिन अधिक महंगे रेशेदार सुदृढ़ीकरण जैसे ग्लास फाइबर के बीच की स्थिति में रहता है। इसका आमतौर पर उपयोग थर्मोप्लास्टिक्स और थर्मोसेट्स में तन्य और फ्लेक्सुरल गुणों को सुधारने, संकोचन और वारपेज को कम करने, और गर्मी प्रतिरोध बढ़ाने के लिए किया जाता है, साथ ही कुछ प्रणालियों में फॉर्मूलेशन लागत को कम करने के लिए भी। इसकी व्यापक औद्योगिक भूमिका सिरेमिक, घर्षण सामग्री, कोटिंग्स, निर्माण उत्पादों, धातु विज्ञान और एस्बेस्टोस-प्रतिस्थापन अनुप्रयोगों तक फैली हुई है।

इतिहास और विकास

वोलास्टोनाइट लंबे समय से औद्योगिक खनिज के रूप में उपयोग किया जाता रहा है, शुरू में सिरेमिक में और उच्च-तापमान फॉर्मूलेशन में कैल्शियम और सिलिका के स्रोत के रूप में। इसका उपयोग काफी बढ़ गया जब उद्योग ने पहचाना कि इसकी एक्यूलर क्रिस्टल आदत पॉलिमर, सीमेंटयुक्त प्रणालियों और घर्षण सामग्रियों में सुदृढ़ीकरण लाभ प्रदान कर सकती है।

एक प्रमुख ऐतिहासिक चालक एस्बेस्टोस प्रतिस्थापन था। वोलास्टोनाइट को इंसुलेटिंग बोर्ड, पैनल, छत उत्पाद, पेंट, प्लास्टिक और ब्रेक या क्लच फॉर्मूलेशन में अपनाया गया जहां रेशेदार आकृति और तापीय स्थिरता वांछित थी। बाद में, पॉलिमर कंपाउंडिंग ने इंजीनियरिंग प्लास्टिक के लिए कम लागत वाले खनिज सुदृढ़ीकरण के रूप में वोलास्टोनाइट को तेजी से अपनाया, विशेष रूप से पॉलीप्रोपाइलीन, पॉलीएमाइड और संबंधित प्रणालियों में।

अधिक हालिया विकास सतह उपचार, अल्ट्राफाइन ग्राइंडिंग और सिंथेटिक या हाइड्रोथर्मल उत्पादन मार्गों पर केंद्रित रहा है ताकि आस्पेक्ट रेशियो, फैलाव और प्रदर्शन स्थिरता में सुधार किया जा सके। इन प्रगतियों ने उच्च-मूल्य यौगिकों और ग्लास फाइबर, सेलुलोज या अन्य सुदृढ़ीकरण के साथ हाइब्रिड प्रणालियों में इसके उपयोग को व्यापक बनाया है।
