परिचय

लॉन्ग फाइबर thermoplastics संरचनात्मक थर्मोप्लास्टिक कंपोजिट हैं जिनमें थर्मोप्लास्टिक मैट्रिक्स को लंबे असंतत रेशों, आमतौर पर ग्लास या कार्बन के साथ प्रबलित किया जाता है, ताकि उच्च कठोरता, शक्ति और प्रभाव प्रतिरोध का संतुलन प्राप्त किया जा सके जबकि औद्योगिक थर्मोप्लास्टिक प्रक्रियाओं द्वारा मोल्ड करने योग्य बना रहे। व्यवहार में, इस शब्द में LFT और LFRT दोनों शामिल हैं, और सामग्री प्रदर्शन और प्रक्रियाशीलता के संदर्भ में शॉर्ट-फाइबर कंपाउंड और निरंतर-फाइबर कंपोजिट के बीच व्यापक रूप से स्थित हैं।

इतिहास और विकास

लॉन्ग फाइबर thermoplastics फाइबर-प्रबलित प्लास्टिक के व्यापक विकास से उभरे, विशेष रूप से ऐसे कंपोजिट की खोज से जो मानक थर्मोप्लास्टिक उपकरणों में मोल्ड किए जा सकें जबकि शॉर्ट-फाइबर कंपाउंड से बेहतर प्रदर्शन करें। उनकी औद्योगिक वृद्धि ऑटोमोटिव क्षेत्र द्वारा संचालित थी, जहां निर्माताओं को बेहतर क्रैश और थकान प्रदर्शन वाले हल्के संरचनात्मक भागों की आवश्यकता थी, लेकिन पारंपरिक निरंतर-फाइबर लेअप प्रणालियों की तुलना में छोटे चक्र समय भी चाहते थे।

एक प्रमुख तकनीकी कदम पुल्ट्रूशन-आधारित पेलेट उत्पादन था, जिसमें निरंतर फाइबर रोविंग्स को पिघले पॉलिमर से संसेचित किया जाता है और फिर नियंत्रित लंबाई के पेलेट्स या स्ट्रैंड्स में काटा जाता है। यह प्रक्रिया पारंपरिक कंपाउंडिंग की तुलना में फाइबर लंबाई को बहुत बेहतर बनाए रखती है, जिससे अंतिम मोल्डेड भाग इंजेक्शन मोल्डिंग या कंप्रेशन मोल्डिंग के बाद एक प्रबलित कंकाल बनाए रखता है।
