مقدمة
البولي يوريثان الحيوي polyurethane أو Bio-PU هو مادة polyurethane يُستمد فيها جزء من محتوى الكربون، وفي بعض التركيبات معظمه أو كله، من مواد أولية متجددة مثل الزيوت النباتية أو الكتلة الحيوية اللجنوسليلوزية أو السكريات أو غيرها من الوسيطات المشتقة من الكتلة الحيوية بدلاً من المواد الخام القائمة على الوقود الأحفوري فقط. وتحتل مكانة مهمة في سلسلة قيمة البلاستيك لأن كيمياء polyurethane شديدة التكيف: بتغيير البوليول والإيزوسيانات والمحفز وchain extender وadditives، يمكن صياغة Bio-PU على شكل رغاوي أو coatings أو adhesives أو elastomers أو أغشية أو مواد طبية حيوية.
