월라스토나이트 섬유는 플라스틱 및 기타 산업 자재에서 기능성 충전재 및 보강 광물로 사용되는 천연 칼슘 실리케이트 광물입니다. 바늘 모양의 형태, 낮은 열팽창, 우수한 백색도, 낮은 수분 흡수율 및 비교적 높은 강성으로 인해 치수 안정성, 표면 품질 및 중간 정도의 보강이 중요한 컴파운드에 유용합니다.
플라스틱에서 월라스토나이트 섬유는 활석과 같은 불활성 증량제와 유리섬유와 같은 더 강하지만 비싼 섬유상 보강재 사이의 위치를 차지합니다. 일반적으로 열가소성 수지 및 열경화성 수지에 사용되어 인장 및 굴곡 특성을 개선하고, 수축 및 휨을 줄이며, 내열성을 높이는 동시에 일부 시스템에서 배합 비용을 낮춥니다. 더 넓은 산업적 역할은 세라믹, 마찰재, 코팅, 건설 제품, 야금 및 석면 대체 응용 분야에 걸쳐 있습니다.

역사 및 개발
월라스토나이트는 오랫동안 산업용 광물로 사용되어 왔으며, 처음에는 세라믹과 고온 배합에서 칼슘 및 실리카 공급원으로 사용되었습니다. 그 사용은 산업계가 침상 결정 습성이 폴리머, 시멘트계 시스템 및 마찰재에서 보강 이점을 제공할 수 있음을 인식하면서 크게 확대되었습니다.
주요 역사적 동인은 석면 대체였습니다. 월라스토나이트는 섬유 형태와 열 안정성이 요구되는 응용 분야에서 더 안전한 대안으로 절연 보드, 패널, 지붕 제품, 페인트, 플라스틱 및 브레이크 또는 클러치 배합에 채택되었습니다. 이후 폴리머 컴파운딩은 특히 폴리프로필렌, 폴리아미드 및 관련 시스템에서 엔지니어링 플라스틱용 저비용 광물 보강재로 월라스토나이트를 점점 더 많이 채택했습니다.
