소개
Polyurethane thermoplastics은 일반적으로 열가소성 폴리우레탄(TPU)이라고 하며, 고무와 같은 탄성을 열가소성 재가공성과 결합한 용융 가공 가능한 polyurethane elastomers 제품군입니다. 이 소재는 플라스틱 산업에서 중요한 위치를 차지하는데, 열가소성 수지처럼 성형·압출·재활용이 가능하면서도 높은 내마모성, 인성, 유연성 및 우수한 저온 성능을 제공하기 때문입니다.
더 넓은 polyurethane 분야에서 TPU는 열가소성 계열에 해당하며, 많은 polyurethane 소재가 열경화성으로 비가역적으로 경화되는 것과 대조됩니다. 소재의 성능은 세그먼트 블록 공중합체 구조에서 비롯되며, 유연한 소프트 세그먼트는 탄성을 제공하고 하드 세그먼트는 물리적 가교를 형성하여 강도, 치수 안정성 및 인열 저항성을 부여합니다.
TPU는 폴리에스터계, 폴리에테르계, 폴리카프로락톤계 등 여러 화학 계열로 발전하여 가수분해 저항성, 유연성 및 가공성을 각각 다르게 균형 잡고 있습니다. 이러한 조정 가능성 덕분에 TPU는 신발, 케이블 재킷, 호스, 씰, 필름부터 의료용 튜브, 웨어러블, 보호 스킨, 산업 부품에 이르기까지 폭넓게 사용됩니다.
지속가능성은 TPU의 핵심 이슈입니다. 소재는 기계적으로 내구성이 뛰어나고 원칙적으로 기계적 재가공을 통해 재활용 가능하지만, 여전히 석유화학 원료와 많은 등급에서 이소시아네이트 화학에 크게 의존합니다. 현재 혁신은 바이오 기반 폴리올, 저탄소 생산 경로, 재활용 호환 제형, 더 긴 사용 수명과 쉬운 회수를 위한 TPU 시스템에 집중되어 있습니다.
역사 및 개발
폴리우레탄은 1930년대에 처음 개발되었으며, TPU는 열가소성 방법으로 가공할 수 있는 초기 엘라스토머 polyurethane 형태 중 하나로 등장했습니다. 플라스틱 산업이 기존 elastomers의 느린 경화 사이클 없이 까다로운 용도에서 고무를 대체할 소재를 찾으면서 그 중요성이 커졌습니다.
TPU의 상업적 확대는 디이소시아네이트 화학, 폴리올 선택 및 반응 가공 제어의 개선에 따라 이루어졌으며, 이를 통해 경도, 탄성 및 열적 거동을 광범위하게 조정할 수 있게 되었습니다. 그 결과 TPU는 특수 엘라스토머에서 소비재, 자동차, 의료 및 산업 분야에 걸쳐 사용되는 주요 엔지니어링 소재로 발전했습니다.
