परिचय

मोल्ड्स के लिए स्टील प्लास्टिक इंजेक्शन मोल्डिंग और, आसन्न संदर्भों में, डाई कास्टिंग, कम्प्रेशन मोल्डिंग और अन्य बनाने के संचालनों के लिए गुहाओं, कोरों, इंसर्ट्स, मोल्ड बेस, स्लाइड्स और संबंधित tooling के निर्माण के लिए उपयोग किए जाने वाले इंजीनियरिंग स्टील्स के परिवार को संदर्भित करता है। प्लास्टिक प्रसंस्करण में, मोल्ड स्टील को केवल ताकत के लिए नहीं चुना जाता है; इसे रेजिन, पार्ट ज्योमेट्री, सरफेस फिनिश और अपेक्षित टूल लाइफ के अनुसार machinability, polishability, wear resistance, toughness, corrosion resistance, thermal stability, weldability, और cost को संतुलित करना चाहिए।

व्यवहार में, कोई एक "सर्वोत्तम" मोल्ड स्टील नहीं है। चयन एक जोखिम-प्रबंधन निर्णय है: P20 और संबंधित प्री-हार्डन्ड स्टील्स सामान्य-उद्देश्य मोल्ड्स के लिए व्यापक रूप से उपयोग किए जाते हैं, H13/SKD61 हॉट-वर्क और उच्च तनाव वाले अनुप्रयोगों के लिए, और 420 stainless या S136/STAVAX संक्षारक पॉलिमर और उच्च-ग्लॉस पार्ट्स के लिए। क्षेत्र स्टील की सफाई, वैक्यूम डिगैसिंग, ESR रीमेल्टिंग, पाउडर मेटलर्जी और प्री-हार्डन्ड सप्लाई स्थितियों में सुधारों के आसपास विकसित हुआ है, जिन सभी ने आयामी स्थिरता, सतह की गुणवत्ता और मोल्ड बनाने में पूर्वानुमानशीलता में सुधार किया है।

एक अच्छी तरह से चुना गया मोल्ड स्टील सीधे साइकिल समय, रखरखाव अंतराल, पार्ट की उपस्थिति और स्वामित्व की कुल लागत को प्रभावित करता है। यह स्थिरता में भी महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाता है, क्योंकि लंबा टूल लाइफ, कम स्क्रैप दरें और बेहतर कूलिंग-चैनल अखंडता मोल्ड के सेवा जीवन में सामग्री अपशिष्ट और ऊर्जा उपयोग को कम करती हैं।
